Under-sink filters
The most common job we do in Gosnells, and for most people the one that actually answers the complaint.
A cartridge housing sits inside the kitchen cupboard. It is plumbed off the cold water feed that already runs to your mixer, and it sends filtered water to a small separate tap on the sink. The mixer keeps doing what it always did. You get filtered water when you want it, at the one tap where it matters.
It handles taste, smell and chlorine well, it takes up a corner of the cupboard rather than the whole thing, and the cartridge change afterwards is a short visit. The things that decide the job are the space in the cabinet, the condition of the isolation valve on the cold feed, and whether there is a hole in the sink or benchtop for the tap.
What an under-sink install involves
Whole-house filters at the mains
Fitted where the water enters the property, before it splits off to anything. Every outlet in the house then runs through it — kitchen, bathrooms, laundry, and the hot water system.

This is the system to ask about if your complaint is not really about drinking. Scale on fittings, water that affects appliances, sediment showing up at more than one tap: those are whole-house problems and an under-sink unit will not touch them.
The trade-off is honest and worth saying. It costs more, the cartridges are larger and cost more to replace, and it needs a real physical location near the mains — under cover, with clearance to actually change the cartridge without dismantling something. On an older Gosnells block that spot is usually obvious. On a newer estate lot with a narrow side passage it sometimes is not, which is why we look before quoting.

Reverse osmosis
A multi-stage system. Water passes through pre-filters, then through a membrane, then into a small storage tank, and the tank feeds the dedicated tap. Some water goes to the drain in the process, which is why it needs a drain connection as well as a feed.
RO removes a great deal more than a straight carbon cartridge does. It is also slower, larger, and more demanding of the cupboard — you need room for the unit, the tank and the tube runs, plus somewhere to make the drain connection.
It is the right system for some Gosnells kitchens and more than the job needs in others. We would rather tell you which yours is on site than have you buy one and find out.
When reverse osmosis is worth it
Filtered drinking taps
Whatever filter you put under the sink, something has to deliver the water. That is usually a separate small tap beside the mixer.

It sounds like a detail and it is the part people most often get stuck on — because it involves a hole through the benchtop or sink, and benchtops are not all equally forgiving. Stone, laminate and stainless each behave differently. Some sinks already have a spare knockout; plenty do not.

Bore water treatment
Separate subject, separate equipment.
About one in four Perth household gardens runs off a private garden bore drawing on the shallow Superficial aquifer. That is untreated groundwater. It has nothing to do with the treated scheme water at your kitchen tap, and the two supplies stay separate.
If the bore is staining paving, blocking sprinklers or fouling fittings, that is a bore water job and a drinking water filter is not the answer to it.
Cartridge changes and servicing
Every system on this page has a consumable in it. Cartridges load up, flow drops off, and eventually the thing stops doing what you paid for.
We change cartridges on systems we installed and on systems installed by somebody else. Matching the right cartridge to a housing already on the wall is most of that job, and it is a lot easier for us than it is for you standing in an aisle comparing part numbers.

Which one suits your house?
The short version of how we decide it with you:
If the complaint is taste, smell or chlorine at the kitchen tap
— an under-sink filter is usually the whole answer, and the cheapest correct one.
If the complaint is scale, sediment or something affecting appliances and showers
— that is a mains question, not a kitchen one.
If you want the drinking water as clean as it can reasonably get and the cupboard has room
— reverse osmosis is the conversation.
If the problem is coming from a bore rather than the mains
— different job entirely, and we will say so.
If you are not sure which of those you have
— that is exactly what the free visit is for. Describe it on the phone, we come and look, and you get a written price for whichever one it turns out to be.
What Perth water actually is
Worth a paragraph, because it shapes all of the above.
The Integrated Water Supply Scheme that feeds Gosnells is a blend of roughly 44.6% groundwater, 36% desalinated seawater and 18.7% surface water, with a little groundwater replenishment. The mix moves through the year, which is the reason the water can taste one way in one season and another way in the next.
Water Corporation puts elevated hardness at 200 mg/L under the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines. Hardness is dissolved minerals, and it is what leaves scale in a kettle or a hot water system and makes soap harder to lather. Some of what people dislike about their water is particles and chlorine, which filtration handles well. Some of it is dissolved minerals, which is a different type of system. We tell you which one you have got rather than selling you the one we would rather fit.
How the job runs
1. You ring or send the form
Describe what is bothering you about the water, and whether it is the kitchen or the whole house.
2. A licensed plumber comes out at no charge
He looks at the cupboard, the mains, the valve, the benchtop and the space.
3. You get a written price
Before any work. Transparent pricing, no hidden costs. If you would rather not go ahead, you owe nothing.
4. We install it
Connected properly, tested, and left tidy.
5. We come back for cartridges
Because a filter nobody services stops being a filter.
Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm. Plumbing Licence 8396, Gas Licence 13098.
