Why the suburb changes the answer
We ask where you are before we say anything useful about a filter, and there is a reason for it.
The older suburbs
— Gosnells' own townsite, Maddington, Thornlie, Kenwick, Langford and Beckenham — went up from the 1960s onwards. Gosnells itself had about 7,500 people in the 1950s and 9,504 when it became a Shire in 1961, and the boom followed straight after. Kitchens from that era have smaller sink cabinets, older isolation valves and benchtops that may be on their second or third replacement. None of that stops a filter going in. It does mean the valve and the cabinet get looked at before the quote, not after.
The 1980s and 90s belt
— Huntingdale, Canning Vale — was built inside tighter windows. The pipework is more consistent and more predictable, and the sink cabinets are generally roomier. Straightforward installs, mostly.
The new estates
— Southern River and the newer streets running toward it — have modern plumbing and good cabinet space. The constraint there is rarely the pipework and often the block: narrow side passages and tight meter positions make a mains-side filter harder to site than a kitchen one.
Flats and apartments
The City of Gosnells grew from 69,500 people in 1991 to 105,000 in 2011, and a good part of the growth inside the suburb of Gosnells came from flats and apartments. In strata, the first question is which part of the supply is yours to modify. That is worth sorting out before anyone prices anything.
The semi-rural edge

What does not change
Wherever you are in the ring, the water arriving through the mains is the same supply. Perth's Integrated Water Supply Scheme is a blend of roughly 44.6% groundwater, 36% desalinated seawater and 18.7% surface water, with a little groundwater replenishment, and the proportions move through the year. That is why the water can taste different between seasons anywhere on this list.
